Dr. Emmert has highly specialized training in three areas of medicine- chronic pain conditions, anti-aging medicine and weight loss. She loves tackling cases where a person can’t figure out what is “wrong” with them. Having suffered from undiagnosed celiac disease for over a decade, Lishanna has a deep compassion for people with chronic symptoms that perpetuate without explanation.
In the clinic, Lishanna incorporates a wide array of tools for treating chronic health challenges including acupuncture, functional nutrition and weight loss, whole food supplementation and phytotherapies, lab diagnostic testing and analysis, and qi gong exercises for pain management. In her clinical experience, Lishanna has found that many ailments are caused by multiple factors, and must be met on many levels for full resolution. Often, acupuncture and herbs can offer relief within a few days, and tools such as diagnostic tests, qigong breathing and movement therapies, nutritional supplementation, and patient education bring the lasting results patients need to truly thrive.
Lishanna has extensive eduction functioning as a bridge between Chinese Medicine, Functional Nutrition, and Conventional Western Medicine. She is happy to collaborate with practitioners of all philosophies, and is also capable of working as a health team coordinator, evaluating all systems and making referrals as needed. She will leave no stone unturned in determining the cause of imbalances, and is willing to be as committed to your healing journey as you are.
Lishanna’s health education started when she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Holistic Health from Fairhaven College in Bellingham, Washington. She then moved to Santa Cruz and earned both her Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University, an eight year process. “Forty years ago I experienced acupuncture for the first time, and have been utilizing acupuncture services ever since to enhance my body’s healing process for many conditions. I have seen a number of practitioners over four decades, ranging from practitioners I would not recommend at all, to master practitioners I fully trust, and would gladly see others assisted by them! Lishanna is one of the latter- a profoundly gifted practitioner. Recently I suffered a bout of horrendous, painful sciatica in my left leg; never before in my life had I felt anything like it! It lasted months and months. I was seeing a physical therapist, but a friend recommended I also consider doing acupuncture with Lishanna. I did, for 5 sessions, and am now convinced she is “fully assisted by revered ancestors”. My experience was deep, restorative, and I am now fully recovered, with no pain whatsoever. I highly recommend her as a master acupuncture practitioner!” -Christina Pearson
